Saff's latest release, "Next Ex," is about learning of an emotional affair and finally walking away. Betrayal is a loud verbal statement. The writing is razor sharp, beginning with the confession, "I should have known you were bed death prone," and "Verizon bill spilt it all" adds an unexpectedly biting detail. Heartbreak is an act of independence with repeated "I'm your next ex Saff's voice leaps from baritone to high soprano, three octaves, which gives the track a particularly dramatic quality. Next Ex is the moment of victory where betrayal stops hurting and starts feeding, not tears of defeat.
