The famous mouthy rapper-turned-podcaster wrong-balled history when he groused that a leaked Super Bowl Halftime Show setlist for Kendrick Lamar was fake, only to see it confirmed as 100 percent accurate. Earlier this week, Budden unleashed on his podcast about anyone who bought into the leak and called them an “idiot.” Now, the joke’s on him.
The show’s setlist, initially posted by DJ Akademiks, included some of Kendrick’s biggest songs, prompting fans to spiral about what could be a legendary performance. But Budden wasn’t having it. In a classic Budden rant, he snuffed out the possibility that the list could be accurate, indicating that he believed the internet had gone haywire with groundless speculation.
Budden’s take did not go unnoticed on social media. Twitter exploded with fans mocking him for the cocky and very incorrect position he took. Budden, whose views are inarguably strong and occasionally divisive, hasn’t spoken out or clarified the situation since. Still, if history indicates, he won’t concede defeat so readily. Whether he holds firm or finally admits defeat is yet to be seen.
