Jack Harlow, who Kanye West currently has in his top five, returns with another new single, “Set You Free.” The Louisville, Kentucky-bred artist has been on a nice wave due to the releases of “Hello Miss Johnson” and “Tranquility.” Most of these tracks were released with little to no promotion. But they’ve all been buzzing among fans and established emcees like Ye. We can only assume that Jack Harlow is launching a new album, first because of this excerpt from “Tranquility.” “Fans still say they miss Jack with the spectacles. For the last project, I was givin’ you conceptually. For the next project, I’ll be givin’ you exceptional.”
However, he hasn't yet made a formal announcement of a title or release date. “Set You Free” features Jack rapping over an up-tempo instrumental with acoustic guitar melodies and high-pitched background vocals from female singers. That sounds to us like Harlow sampling ROSALÍA. It’s a smooth, pulsing crossover of R&B and pop rap as he laments how he needs to get over a relationship. He’s, you know, kind of nervous about it, which is normal. But he also kind of gets a thrill from the idea of being alone and doing his own thing. “Set You Free” couldn’t have come at a more perfect time for all of those spending Valentine’s Day alone and doing so with sass and pride. Listen to Jack’s new bop below.
