Stanwick’s inner demon is an aggressive dark satire with an intentionally outrageous sense of humor in “The Birth Of Stanky.” Haunting strings and synths provide an unsettling backdrop to Stanwick’s playful excesses against a gritty landscape. For instance, “I’m a mess. (Yep) / Obsessed with sex and death” makes it clear that this song is intended to be provocative, and the grotesque imagery takes the satire to a deliberately dirty place. There’s a mischief beneath the darkness that calls back to the shock-driven spirit of early Slim Shady, but it’s still got its own eccentric personality. It’s messy, it’s unapologetic and it’s purposefully absurd.
