Eric Mann's latest release, "Guanajuato," is a narrative Americana and outlaw country ballad about two men born a thousand miles apart whose lives briefly cross by forces beyond their control. Set in Guanajuato, Mexico, the story opens with a young man whose fate is largely beyond his control. The opener, "His mother'd stand at the stove / And listen as she prayed," provides a particularly intimate human touch. Recorded with live musicians in Nashville and vocal tracking and mixing in Brooklyn, "Guanajuato" has the feel of a carefully told story in which distance, circumstance, and destiny quietly collide.
