Dragged Up's latest release, “Rapunzel,” gives a gloriously messy blast of garage-punk, art rock and raw rock ’n’ roll spirit. Driven along by primal riffs, the frenetic saxophone gives the song a wonderfully chaotic X-Ray Spex edge. There’s very little shine between the listening and the band’s energy, and that’s exactly what makes it charming. “Rapunzel” is a love letter to outsiders, to rebels, to anyone who refuses to live in the boxes society has created. Dragged Up calls it, “This is a celebration of all the freak flag fliers of the world.” The result is immediate, noisy, and really infectious.
