Lonely Hours walk the line between bravado and insecurity on "I Give a Lot of Pleasure to Women," propelled by taut guitars and relentless momentum. The swagger gradually dissolves into something much more uneasy, as confidence is satirized through repetition. The band wisely avoids overcomplicating, letting tension and subtext do most of the emotional heavy lifting. There's an intentionally overstated vocal quality that adds to the song's irony. The instrumentation is tight, keeping everything sharp and immediate. Lonely Hours understands the value of restraint, it's the precision that gives the track its punch. It's a clever, uncomfortable, and impressively self-aware indie rock that lurks under the surface.
