Metro Boomin Weighs In on Drake vs. Kendrick Feud: "It’s All Love, Competition is Healthy"

Metro Boomin has weighed in on the much-talked-about rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, and his take is refreshingly diplomatic. Speaking at the Forbes Under 30 Summit, the super-producer gave insight into modern rap feuds, contrasting them with the legendary battles of early hip-hop. According to Metro, while competition has always been at the core of hip-hop, today’s climate is shaped more by "stan culture" than pure musical rivalry.

“Back in the day, JAY-Z and Nas went at it, but most fans loved both artists,” Metro reflected. “Now, it feels different, but honestly, competition is healthy. It’s part of the game.” He emphasized that at its core, hip-hop is about ego and pushing boundaries, but it’s never meant to be as serious as some make it out to be.

Despite the back-and-forth between two of the industry’s heavyweights, Metro’s message is clear: he’s here for the music. “I have love and respect for all my collaborators. We’re all in this to uplift the genre and make it stronger,” he added, underlining that his goal is to push hip-hop forward, not fuel the fire.

For Metro Boomin, the beef may make headlines, but it’s all part of the competitive spirit that has driven hip-hop since its inception.
