Five Artists, Different Sounds, One Spotlight: This Week on Soaplife

Soaplife Magazine continues its commitment to discovering and spotlighting artists bringing fresh perspectives to contemporary music. Opening this week are five new arrivals whose sounds reflect the creativity, diversity, and individuality shaping today's musical landscape. From dreamy hip-hop crossovers and soulful Afro-R&B to alternative soundscapes, these artists offer more than familiar sounds. Each brings a distinct musical identity, combining thoughtful expression, creative production, and personal storytelling. Together, this week's opening selections highlight the value of artistic originality and the exciting voices deserving a place in today's music conversation.

Color Of Noise - “Dad"

Color Of Noise’s latest release, “Dad,” is an emotional tribute to fatherhood, childhood memories, and the pain of missing someone. The storytelling is my favorite part of the song. Playing sports, making music, and trying to get your parents' approval. It’s the little things that are the special memories. The message is all the more powerful because the repeated refrain, “I miss you, Dad,” is emotionally elementary. And there is the added sadness of eventually realizing a father's departure. For me, this is a deeply felt liberation, a celebration of the power of a parent's love to survive.

Melina Berrie - “trust fall”

Melina Berrie’s latest release, “trust fall,” is a soulful release that captures the thrill and uncertainty of falling in love, of trusting someone with your most powerless self. I especially love how the lyrics use driving, falling, and open-door imagery to describe letting your emotions go. There is something very romantic in being able to hand over the baton, without having to worry all the time about what could happen.

Codi Dillon - “CHAOS”

Codi Dillon explores mixed emotions and true self-expression in his latest release, “CHAOS.” I love the song for its combination of dark images, inner turmoil, and bold statements.  A strong tension exists between the angelic and darker references, and it tells an interesting story along unpredictable lines. "This record is about owning imperfection, owning individuality and having a dramatic stance that you can't mistake.

SHEBAD - “Entropy”

SHEBAD’s new single “Entropy,” is a riveting song about emotional exhaustion, uncertainty, and the desire to push through. It’s like slowly falling apart but not into the chaos of everything else. In the struggle with brutal simplicity, I can feel it coming apart at the seams, but beneath the frustration is a real desire to change and heal. I think "Entropy" is a great meditation on private wars and the courage to face another day.

Max Ceddo -"Waltzing to a Dirge"

Max Ceddo’s latest release, "Waltzing to a Dirge," is a finely observed meditation on death, remembrance, and performative grief. The uncomfortable irony is captured perfectly in the line “Now that I’m dead people are coming who wouldn’t have come if I was alive.”
