The Kaves explore emotional distance and unresolved longing on latest release “Exile”

The Kaves
’ latest release, “Exile,” is about the frustration of waiting for someone and the emptiness that won’t go away. I like the idea of being stuck at a station, all that rage, waiting for the moment when everything finally changes. The constant references to being eighty miles away create distance. Mentally, physically. One line that captures the song’s loneliness is “I’ll wait for her in exile.” It's a meditation on desire, uncertainty, and the difficulty of moving on.
