The Floating Truth's latest release, "Land of Smoke," is based on the experience of watching a fire burn twice, from the guitars and slogans of a youth revolt to the flames brought indoors, then more quietly. The title is deliberately very simple, and it depicts a country that burns in its own fire. That gave the song a heavy sense of atmosphere and uncertainty, like everything's happening in smoke. "Land Of Smoke" is the anti-easy answer. It's about how hard it is to see straight when destruction has become the landscape around you.
