In Mossrose’s song “Cautious Driver,” the comfort and limits of the safe route are explored, as is the security of staying in your own bubble to avoid getting hurt. I like the vocal colors and the harmonies that add character and warmth to the performance. The opening piano is a high spot too, it has this soft Sunday church thing that pulls me right in. The siren’s call is a message we all hear, Choose safety over risk. The lyric “I’m not looking for trouble, I’m safe here in my bubble where no one can get to me,” captures the tension between safety and risk. Cautious Driver is a good reminder that avoiding failure means avoiding life.
