Lisamarie Monet finds the ache beneath a beautiful surface on latest release “Fallen Rain”

Lisamarie Monet
’s latest release, “Fallen Rain,” is an intimate, bruised song about being wanted, but never really known. The writing contrasts appearance and emotional reality, most poignantly in “You saw the smile, you missed the scars.” And its chorus is softly bitter. Monet describes someone who wants heat but not the fire that comes with it. It has real emotional depth and tension, the push and pull of pleasure and healing. Fallen Rain doesn’t sugarcoat disappointment, but it shows the loneliness of shallow perception while your deepest emotional needs are quietly left alone.
