Lila Forde's latest release, "I Can't Get No Space," is a character song about being squished by life, people, and situations, and turning frustration into vividness, we are plunged straight into a cramped and uncomfortable world, water dripping from the ceiling of a kitchen, mold creeping up a window. Then there's the line "I can't get no space," which really conveys the feeling of wanting some breathing room. A ride home to her mother." The details feel lived-in, the tension steadily builds, and it gives the track personality.
