Dread Specter Council's latest release, "Hex's Up" mixes the rawness of '90s alternative rock with a more considered songwriting approach. The song draws energy from Pixies and Sebadoh, plus the introspective spirit of Elliott Smith and Nirvana. The song has a driving beat and a hooky tune. The music has a dark emotional pull with sad themes. It adds another layer of indie-rock character, leaving room for experimental noise. "Hex's Up" is a deliberately roughshod mixtape of melody, distortion, and frenetic energy for fans of alternative and noise rock.
