Yr Knives' latest release, "Stretch Bath," sounds like something was coming together as it fell apart. A little bit of fuzzy fretwork from the Chicago supergroup, guitars jamming the instrumentation right up to the edge, never too comfortable with structure. The instability is part of the track's character, adding spontaneity to the listening experience rather than tight control. There's a nice tension between groove and fuzz, between moving and falling off. "Stretch Bath" stretches the limits of a song, finding character in the moments when the structure begins to fall apart.
