The Wheel Workers have a driving riff-rock thing going on with “So Wrong.” That sounds simple enough, but the details are another matter. The guitars and drums are in lockstep rhythm so it has an immediate garage-rock swagger but the bass is in a different meter so that makes for a deceptively intricate layer in the arrangement. It’s a musical detail that rewards further listening, and maintains the song’s direct energy. Written two decades ago, at the dawn of social media, “So Wrong” also has a warning about division, but also optimism that people can take back their power and create something better.
