Prince Farming's latest release, "You Win The Trophy," is a slightly off-kilter, different take on the mythos of Hollywood success. It's sung from the point of view of someone watching an aspiring actor or musician try to make it big in LA, and the song gradually darkens in the shadow of its ambition. The track builds a natural tension. Dreams of making it can get snarled up in excess, disappointment, addiction, and burnout. The story's point of view gives it a vigilant tone, as if you are observing the chase up close. But rather than just toasting success, "You Win The Trophy" considers the cost of chasing the prize, leaving ambition in an awkward place.
