New Sunday returns with “Here I Am Meant To BE," their fourth single and another important chapter in Einar’s evolving catalog, out on 14th September 2026. The release continues the artistic direction that has helped to build the band’s identity, following on from both “Echoes In The Dark” and “The Empty Street”, whilst opening a more personal window into the writing behind their music. The song tells a story of overcoming, anxiety, and finding a small but powerful way to meet each new day.
“Einar’s songwriting starts with words. His method, rooted in a great store of poems and his own experience, is of the story preceding the arrangement. From there he uses his knowledge of music theory and the Hookpad platform to build chord progressions and melodies around the story. That process shows a clear belief in restraint, allowing the melody to express emotion without adding unnecessary layers. “Here I Am Meant To BE” is from that same philosophy, giving room for its subject to breathe.
Add the personal history of the song to that and you get a certain sense of honesty. Einar shares how he battled anxiety for two years before hitting rock bottom and burning out completely. In the early days of his recovery, he talked with his therapist about how waking was hard, and the anxiety was so great it could take until the afternoon to face the day. He was instructed to seek something simple to balance those first difficult hours and not to seek some complex solution.
That advice led Einar to pick up a guitar he had stashed nearby, considering that he could play only a few chords. It started out as a bit of casual jamming but it became a form of relief and the instrument helped to gradually settle his mind after waking up. That experience became the emotional basis for “Here I Am Meant To BE,” turning an ordinary guitar into a tool for recovery. We can all relate to that discovery, particularly those of us who have found comfort in creating, even before we knew where it would lead us.
The making of the release also speaks to New Sunday’s collaborative process. First Einar outlines the arrangements for the different sections, setting up the story line, and then Lizzie adds her vocals. Simon then shapes the final production, with the three sharing creative decisions as the song develops. Their process gives each release a sense of thought-through progress, yet retains the original writing and emotional purpose.
