Holly Wild’s latest release, “So Annoying,” flips the script on jealousy, offering a fun, self-aware take on the friend who makes everything look so easy. Its personality is the over-the-top sarcasm and absurdity of petty thoughts that knowingly keep the envy tongue-in-cheek. Wild describes the song as an anthem for “friend-vy,” the jealousy people feel but won’t admit to: The contradiction is perfectly captured in the line “Oh My God she’s so annoying”: the friend is gorgeous, completely unbothered, and seemingly blessed beyond all belief, but the annoyance is funny because the narrator knows how crazy it sounds. Surprisingly fun in its pettiness, “So Annoying” is.
