DMP and Koolie release “Crush (G Mix),” aka The G Sound

The latest evolution of CRUSH brings together two creatives whose studio chemistry has grown into a larger project

Some of the most intriguing records begin without a master plan.

The latest release from Derive Music Publishing (DMP) grew out of “CRUSH” and an unexpected creative connection between Koolie and producer and engineer Guillermo Riera, known as G Sound, which formed when Koolie was searching for a new studio to work from. A remix followed. Then came another version. And somewhere along the way, the idea became bigger than the song that started it all.

That evolution has now arrived in the form of “CRUSH G-Mix,” a new release from Koolie and G Sound that captures the energy of a collaboration still unfolding.

The record is more than a remix in the traditional sense. It is the product of two creatives discovering how well their individual strengths work together.

Koolie brings his approach to arrangements and edits. G Sound brings his production and engineering instincts. They have worked together on the mix, traded ideas in the studio, and continued building on what worked rather than forcing the music into a formula.

Koolie puts it simply: “The G-Mix is the soundtrack to our alliance.”

That line says a lot about where the record came from.

The connection between the two developed through the work itself. What began with a studio meeting turned into a creative relationship, and the original “CRUSH” became the starting point for something much broader.

The Man Behind The G Sound

At the center of that collaboration is Riera, whose work extends well beyond music production.

Originally from Venezuela and based in South Florida for more than a decade, Riera has built a multidisciplinary career across music, technology, engineering, and business. His creative foundation began at the Taller de Arte Sonoro in Venezuela, followed by studies in Music Business at Miami Dade College and Mechanical Engineering.

His experience includes working alongside Grammy-winning producer and artist Tony Succar, engineer Paul Hoyle, and producer John Paul “El Increíble.” His work has also taken him into studio operations, artist development, creative content, and professional recording environments.

Away from the traditional studio role, Riera has designed and built recording studios and creative spaces throughout South Florida and Central Florida. His technical work has also extended into marine and automotive audio, ATV and UTV systems, commercial installations, entertainment venues, sporting facilities, and custom projects.

That combination of technical knowledge and creative thinking is a defining part of G Sound's approach.

He is also the founder of Dark Box Studio, a creative production company and multimedia facility based in Hallandale Beach, Florida, where his work spans music production, audiovisual content, studio design, live events, brand experiences, and other creative projects.

When CRUSH Became More Than a Song

The story of “CRUSH G-Mix” is ultimately the story of evolution.

The original “CRUSH” was the starting point. G Sound's remix opened another door. The G-Mix pushed the collaboration further, and the project continued growing from there.

That progression has now led toward CRUSH Maxi, a larger project scheduled for release on October 30.

The full project is still taking shape, but the creative foundation is already there: Koolie and G Sound have found a working rhythm that allows both sides of the collaboration to contribute their strongest qualities.

Koolie trusts G Sound's production and engineering. G Sound trusts Koolie's arrangements and edits. That mutual confidence has become part of the music itself.

And there is something refreshing about a project that has been allowed to develop naturally.

Rather than forcing a concept from the beginning, the collaboration has followed the music wherever it leads.

That makes the G-Mix feel less like a side note to “CRUSH” and more like a statement about where the partnership is going next.

For us, it is an introduction to that chemistry.

For Koolie and G Sound, this is another step forward.

And for Derive Music Publishing (DMP), it marks the beginning of a larger chapter built around a collaboration that started in a studio and has continued to expand far beyond it.
