MOMARZ launches “THE THEORY” with such a strong sense of self, it is deeply felt, layered, and challenging to decipher in an interesting sort of way. This 21-minute EP is the first part of an even longer 16-track project, but it offers a distilled view into where the rest are headed while remaining a strong piece on its own. These are built up from synthwave power and a rootsy warmth, the project breathing with a human pulse beneath layers of electronics. The production is expansive but never frigid, which helps keep the track anchored even as it drifts into atmosphere.
