Sidney Bird presents a heartfelt ode to her childhood in her new single, "Renaissance Man"

Honesty and sweetness abound in Sidney Bird's voice. "Renaissance Man," her latest single, blends folk elements with her western sensibilities.

After the gentle piano intro, Bird's easy vocals take centre stage. After some gentle strumming, the song builds to a lively chorus complete with twangy guitars and handclaps. In keeping with the tone, the accompanying video is spot on. Her vision of the future is so striking in its simplicity.

It brings a warm feeling of comfort to witness her depiction of an ideal family, which mirrors her childhood home. "I feel so lucky to have such great parents who are always there for me," according to her. "I want to be like them one day." It's a lovely memento of simpler times and the values we learnt as children.

Bird's musical theatre and comedy roots shine through in her songs. The singles "Kisses" and "Wild" from her 2020 debut album, Bad Timing, have amassed over 1.7 million streams. In 2021, Bird released Big Heart, her next extended play (EP), and she has more music in the works for this year as well.
